Semolina Halvah (Irmik Helvasi)


  • 1.5 cups semolina
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • 1.5 cups of milk
  • 1.5 cups of granulated sugar

For service:

  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon


*Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a pan.

*Put half a glass of pine nut in it and roast it.

*After the peanuts are roasted, put 1.5 cups of semolina in the pot.

*Stir constantly, fry on low heat for 20 minutes.

*For the syrup of the dessert; Put 1.5 cups of water, 1.5 cups of sugar and 1.5 cups of milk in a small saucepan. After mixing, boil on low heat.

*After the semolina is roasted well, add the hot syrup mixture to the pan little by little.

*Continue to constantly stir the semolina, which begins to boil under the influence of a hot syrup.

*Continue cooking halvah for 8-10 minutes on low heat. Close a lid on it to rest.

*Put the resting semolina halvah in the serving bowls, turn it over, serve with cinnamon or ice cream.
